Botanical Cleansing Grains

So this morning I woke up and decided that I was going to make an exfoliating cleansing powder that was gentle and totally natural.

Cleansing grains have become quite popular as they are very gentle and easy to use.

For the Botanicals I have used calendula, chamomile, rose and lavender; all known for soothing damaged skin. Oats are rich in beta glucan, the soluble fibre that makes porridge gloopy. Almonds add gentle exfoliation but will also make the water milky. If you like you can mix it in a bowl with some water, floral water and yogurt to make a paste and use it as a healing mask with a relaxing scent from the lavender.

Play around with the percentages of ingredients, you really can’t got wrong.

This is my recipe but you can play around with the ingredients to suit your taste.

2% Calendula Petals

4% Chamomile petals

4% Lavender Petals

20% Rice powder or flour

50% Oats

20% Almonds

METHOD

  1. Weigh each ingredient and whizz them up in a coffee grinder.

  2. Decant

  3. Enjoy

Being from the UK I use the metric system so I weigh in grams. To make 100g simply set your scales to grams and convert each percent to gram. 100% equals 100g.
